Today marked the debut of the Geelong Grammar Little Long Walk, an event held in partnership with the Long Walk Foundation and proudly sponsored by Happsa Group.
Over 240 students from Prep to Year 6 at the Toorak Campus participated in this special walk, which saw students walk around the school grounds and from the school to nearby Como Park.
The day commenced with an assembly, a Welcome to Country, and a Smoking Ceremony facilitated by Aunty Joy and Craig, setting a respectful tone for the event.
As part of the initiative, students had previously engaged in a banner-making workshop with the Long Walk Foundation and carried their creations during the walk.
The event concluded with an inspiring hip hop performance by Indigenous Outreach Projects.
The Little Long Walk initiative educates secondary school students about Michael Long’s significant walk to Canberra in 2004, advocating for the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues on the national agenda.
