Did you know that 3.7 million households in Australia experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months? And in Victoria, over 540,000 households wend hungry in the last 12 months.
These statistics provide the motivation for our team to partner with Foodbank Victoria and help families in need in any way we can.
Our team volunteered at Foodbank Victoria’s warehouse assistance program today.
They packed pantry items to be sent to several of the charities that Foodbank Victoria support.
Part of Happsa’s employee volunteering program, the warehouse assistance day involved staff picking and packing food and domestic items in the Foodbank warehouse.
Happsa’s Projects and Systems Manager Ahmad said that everyday Victorians are struggling at the moment.
“To be able to help in some small way and give back to the community and people who need help is very important,” he said.
Today’s Happsa team packed more the equivalent of 3,783 meals for families in need. The team not only packed and sorted through 35 boxes of mixed groceries, they also jumped in to pack a further six orders for our charity partners.
