October is National Safe Work Month and this years’ theme is for everyone’s safety, work safely.
Each week in October there will be a focus on different health and safety topics such as: working together to manage risks at work; working together to protect workers’ mental health; working together to support all workers and; working together to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
Safe Work Australia data shows that around 169 people died while doing their job in 2021 and there were around 130,195 serious workers’ compensation claims made in 2020-21.
Happsa’s OHS Compliance Manager Ray Dole said that during the month of October Happsa’s operational team would focus on the different safety topics.
“Our team will conduct toolbox talks with all operations staff on what we can do to manage risk in our daily operations.”
“Our aim is to build a safety-first culture and minimise the risk of injury,” said Ray.
