Happsa celebrates National Reconciliation Week

Happsa held a celebration to commemorate National Reconciliation Week today in partnership with client, Launch Housing.

The event, held at Launch Housing in St Kilda East included a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony followed by a Yidiki Didgeridoo performance by Uncle Mark from the Bunurong Land Council.

Happsa’s Managing Director Operations, Harry Georgiou said that this years’ NRW event marks one year since Happsa launched its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.

“As I reflect on the past year, I am proud of the work our team has undertaken and the goals they have achieved. We have built new partnerships with Indigenous businesses, extended our work with the Long Walk Foundation and its Little Long Walk program, we are creating safe workplaces for our people by providing tailored cultural and workplace safety training and we are employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders,” Harry said.

“We are also working with clients and partners to bring them along on our reconciliation journey”.

Thank you to our clients at Launch Housing for co-hosting our NRW event.

NRW—held every year from 27 May to 3 June—is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

This year’s theme, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.
