Happsa Group is the inaugural sponsor of the 2022 Emerging Leader Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarships.
Partnering with LGPro, the scholarships will give two recipients the opportunity to participate in senior leadership flagship programs designed for emerging leaders in Local Government.
“Inclusivity is a key pillar of LGPro’s Strategic Plan and it’s a priority for the sector, so this scholarship is an exciting early step in that bigger picture,” said LGPro CEO, Jill Brown.
“This first year of the scholarship had such standout candidates that we chose two rather than one, and it was made possible with Happsa’s support.”
Happsa group Managing Director Operations, Harry Georgiou said that Happsa was proud to align with LGPro to offer the scholarships.
“As a Corporate Partner of LGPro we were able to identify some shared values and work together on offering the first Emerging Leaders scholarships to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants.”
“Giving the participants Billy and Zali an opportunity to develop leadership capabilities and further their careers is something that we are delighted to be a part of,” Harry said.
“We know from first-hand experience, the challenges but also the rewards of leadership and leading our own team and hope by giving these scholarships, the participants will learn practical skills that they can use in their work.”
The Emerging Leaders Program is an intense, enriching year of seminars, visits, tours, discussions, interactive activities and debate that foster participants’ leadership potential.
Participants cover a number of project focus areas such as communication, ethical leadership and decision making, and leading and learning into the future.
