October is National Safe Work Month and this years’ theme is know safety, work safely.
This year’s theme puts the spotlight on a range of WHS topics, including injuries and illness at work, psychological health and managing work health and safety to create a safe and healthy workplace for all.
Safe Work Australia data shows that more than 120,000 workers are compensated for a serious work-related injury or illness in Australia each year and just under 200 are fatally injured at work.
Happsa’s OHS Compliance Manager Ray Dole said that during the month of October Happsa’s operational team would focus on four different safety topics.
“Our focus will be on injuries at work, mental health, managing risks and preventing harm, and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all.”
“Our team will conduct toolbox talks with all our on -the-ground staff beginning with prevention of slips, trips and falls and what we can do to manage risk in our daily operations.”
“These monthly reminders for our staff create a level of awareness of safety practices where our staff and management keep each other accountable.”
“Our aim is to build a safety-first culture and minimise the risk of injury,” said Ray.
At Happsa, we run monthly safety campaigns on different work health and safety topics to keep workplace safety front of mind for our people.
